SKOPJE - The phoenix city

Skopje is the Phoenix City razed by earthquake and fire, only to be rebuilt in cycles of ideological fervor. The city I grew up in, a modernist dream of concrete and solidarity, is disappearing again. This time, not by natural disaster, but by a forced "New Urbanization" - a wave of manufactured Neoclassicism that attempts to mask the Brutalist soul of the past. This project documents the remains of a city lost in-between.
